GNTV Staff

GNTV today has a staff of full-time professional media ministers. Some ordained but all committed and passionate. These people are supported by a gifted group of part-time, mission-centered professionals who bring their gifts and graces to support and shape the ministry of GNTV.


David Wood

David grew up in Macon, GA.  His family attended Vineville United Methodist Church where as a member of Troop 19 he earned his Eagle Scout.  Since being a teenager David has been in ministry with GNTV Media Ministry, traveling and working with the organization to provide lights, sound and video for hundreds of church events, retreats, and concerts. He is a 1997 graduate with a B.S. in Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology (North Avenue Trade School) in Atlanta, GA. He completed his Master of Divinity in 2007 from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. David was Ordained a Full Elder in the South Georgia Annual Conference in 2010. Since September 2012 he is currently appointed to Macon Urban Ministries (the parent ministry of GNTV) with responsibility for being Executive Director.  David was married in 2004 to Hope and has two beautiful little girls named Sarah and Hannah.

Donald Wood

Rev. Dr. Donald R. Wood is an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church. He received his Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and his Doctorate from McCormick Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago. Before moving to South Georgia, Don served churches in the Central Pennsylvania Conference. He was the Executive Director of Good News Television (GNTV) from its beginnings as a cable television channel in 1976 to an Audio/Video/Lighting Production Ministry that provides event support for more than 30 events per year. He retired in 2012. He has successfully supported events across the United States and in more than 15 countries worldwide.

Patrick W. Shownes

Patrick Shownes

Between starting a small sound and lighting production company at the age of 14 and working as a freelance sound tech since 2001, Patrick found a love for production at an early age. Originally from Carlisle, Arkansas, Patrick attended University of Arkansas at Monticello and MediaTech Institute in Dallas, Texas. There he earned a degree in Audio Engineering & Studio Techniques as well as certification in Mixing, Mastering, & Post-Production Audio, Live Sound, Business of Music, and Producing & Songwriting. Working on stage for many different types of events, Patrick learned the ins and outs of the production industry. Prior to joining the GNTV team, he worked for United Methodist Communications and The Arkansas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Patrick serves as audio director and an event coordinator. He also helps with web development and equipment repair.

Laura Poarch

Laura has been with GNTV since 1999. She started as a volunteer, then worked part-time while in school filming local sports, shows and commercials for the television station and working at events as Camera Operator and Video Director. After graduating with a B.A. in Film and Video from Georgia State University, Laura began working full time as a Video Editor, Video Director and Camera Operator. In 2007 Laura married Derek and have two beautiful children, Ashlynn and Davis.

Paul Roadarmel

Paul has worked at GNTV since August of 2007. He began by taking responsibility for the shipping and duplication areas of GNTV. He continues with those responsibilities, but also works as a Camera Operator, Video Director, Video Editor, or Sound Engineer when the situation requires it. While working at Good News he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Information Technology from Macon State College.

Rebecca McAleer 

rebecca photoRebecca comes from a long line of folks in the GNTV family, including her mother Charlene and her older brother Jeff. After three summers with the GNTV internship program, Rebecca joined the full-time GNTV crew in the fall of 2014. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Mass Media from Valdosta State University, where she gained practical experience in video and television production, graphic and web design, and multimedia journalism. Rebecca works chiefly in video and graphic production, specializing in promotional videos and materials. In her free time, Rebecca serves as a coach for the Central Georgia Junior Roller Derby league, and she has two adorable cats that she spoils rotten.

Lori is a new member of the GNTV team. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Education from Stetson University. Before coming to GNTV she worked in a non-profit agency as the activity director for several adult senior centers and also has experience in retail, human resources, and substance abuse education and management. Her skills and background in office management is ideal for her current position as a support to the GNTV office staff.

Lori is active in her community church as a deaconess and personal ministries coordinator and Bible teacher. She loves working with people of all backgrounds and is always willing to lend a helpful hand.

Lori’s husband of nearly 40 years is an I.T. professional at the Methodist Home for Children and Youth. Lori and Richard have three adult children. Lindy is a Physician Assistant in New Jersey. Michael is a mechanical engineer working in Macon, and Aubrey is a stay at home mom living with her husband in Indiana. Lori’s greatest joy is being a new grandmother. Her greatest desire is that all her children know Jesus.

Bill Bates

Growing up in Statesboro, Georgia, Bill was a musician and began becoming interested in artistic portraiture. Bill’s passion for editing and video production began in his home church of Pittman Park in Statesboro, Ga, where he ran ProPresenter and learned basic editing during their high school years. Bill attended Georgia Southern University and earned a B.S. in Multimedia Film Production. A human rights activist, artist, and editor, Bill seeks to help change the world one video at a time.

Allen Wheeler

IMG_4159Allen began learning audio production in his home church in Toccoa, Ga when he was 14 years old. After completing his B.A. in Music Performance from Piedmont College, Allen moved to Dallas, TX where he served as Audio Engineer for a local church until January 2016 when he joined GNTV. While leading a summer mission camp in Minnesota in 2006 Allen met his wife, Jodi.   They married in 2009 and have been blessed with 3 beautiful daughters.

Lulu found her passion for music and sound at an early age when she was part of the San Juan Children’s Choir in Puerto Rico. She attended Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah campus, for her BFA in Sound Design, and it wasn’t until her Sophomore year that she realized that working in production as an Audio Engineer was her dream job. After completing her MFA studies, also at SCAD, Lulu worked as a freelance Audio Engineer until GNTV welcomed her to the team in January 2016.

Lulu is an avid coffee drinker, speaks Spanish as her primary language, and loves to binge watch Netflix.

Nathaniel worked as a volunteer to produce and run graphics at his church while in middle school. He has been working and volunteering in media ministry ever since. He was born and raised in various parts of Louisiana and has been active in the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church his whole life. Nathaniel is an avid fan of ice hockey and motorsport, and in his spare time he enjoys watching movies, listening to music, and playing guitar. Nathaniel completed the GNTV Internship in the summer of 2016 and joined the full-time team shortly after.

Melissa Niedrauer

Melissa Niedrauer graduated from Mercer University in May 2017 with a B.A. in Christianity and Technical Communication. Melissa grew up nearby in Warner Robins, GA, and found a passion for church technology and graphic design while in college. She started working part-time for GNTV back in October 2015, became an intern for the summer of 2016, and is currently pursuing her last summer as an intern before becoming full-time in the fall. She focuses on the online store, duplication, and graphic design.
